I know some do use logic, but it seems to me that most just act on thier own instinct and thier own beliefes. I know there are some times where leaders are forced to act soley on instinct, but most the time I think they should be able to sit down and think things out first and calculate all the costs of thier actions. Bush is the perfect example of an illogical leader. Why do you think he, and others, do not use logic?

It's hard for a politician to use logic.

I think you are being a little harsh. You may be surprised to find that the consequences of different actions are indeed thought through in great detail. There are very complex analyses all over the place covering all sorts of scenarios, from a nuclear attack to a raging virus.

You have to remember that,

Logic does not provide the answer to everything.

Logic can lead to unresolvable paradoxes (read Plato!).

People are not always logical (if we were, then Bush - an illogical president as you say - would not have been voted into power).

You are completely mistaken,i am afraid.

So ur question should be rephrased, perhaps the following.....

Why is President george Bush not logical, like other world

leaders are sometimes forced-to-be(using logical instinct,

discussion, calculation, and all the costs associated- both

with the logical and illogical/critical ways?

What's the goal? The goal may be to maximize your own benefits, minimize your costs and protect your legacy.

As a politician in a term office, your electorate or country may not logically be your main concern. The damage to your chances of re-election may be the only concern in that arena. In the case of Bush, he only has his legacy to worry about. If he feels it is already screwedup, he may decide to maximize his own benefits by securing more funding funnelled into his cronies in the arms production/security business.

Not that he is doing this, but without knowing his particular interests, it is hard to say whether (or anyone else) is being illogical. Being a cynic, I look for selfish logic in every political decision.

Peace

Republicans often refuse to use logic because the American populace does not understand logic. For example, we have the classic "If A, then B because of A." So: IF we leave Iraq, THEN we will save money on this war BECAUSE we left Iraq." Controversely, "If A, then not B because of A", so "IF we leave Iraq, then we will NOT save money on this war BECAUSE we left Iraq."
It's simple logic, but as president, you have to define this in tangible terms that the populace can grasp, like "cut & run" or "strategery" or "misunderestimated" and things of that nature. If every president we had was as bullheaded as Bush, then we wouldn't have terrorism because we would be the United States of Earth. Could you cope with that?

Because world leaders decisions are almost always based on ideology, not logic.

All of them use logic. They logically deduce what they think will be of most benefit to them.
