the logo...that Paul Rand designed, what does it mean??? or what does it represent?

The logo, when taken as a whole, is a light bulb. The W is the filament.
Someone's blog sites African inspiration -- that may be true -- but blogs and Wikipedia are notoriously under IQd and must be taken with a grain of salt.

Well, it clearly has a "W" for Westinghouse. But the look may have been inspired by African masks.

I assume the W stands for.....Westinghouse.
