The Fertile Crescent, which is in the region of the Middle East. The region has the nickname of "The Cradle of Civilization". Farming started there around 9000 BCE, mainly due to the fact that natural grains where in abundance there and eventually domesticated.

If you really want to know from the earliest time, then you have to look at insects such as bees and ants. As far as humans are concerned, that's a debate. I truly think the Egyptian and Chinese societies have been the earliest sign of complex societies to date.
