Its common. No need to worry. The baby is so small and moving all over the place. So yes, it can take a few trys to find it and you wont be able to hold it for long.
Congrats!!

Don't worry. This early in pregnancy, the baby is still very small. Not being able to find the heartbeat could be caused by a variety of reasons ranging from the fact that the baby is so small to the baby being behind the placenta or pubic bone or just that the baby is "swimming" so much, he or she is hard to keep up with!
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

Don't worry, it is very common. It happened to me also when I was six months pregnant. (You would think at that point the heartbeat would be easy to find.)
At twelve weeks the baby is pretty small, which adds to the difficulty in finding the heartbeat. It can also be due to amount of practice and experience of the person listening for the heartbeat has, baby could be laying in a position that makes it difficult to find, or the placenta may be blocking a clear transmission.
Relax and congratulations!

At twelve weeks the fetus is still very small (less than an inch) so image how difficult it could be to find a tiny heartbeat through the fatty tissue, muscle, and uterus of your stomach. Generally the heartbeat cannot be found until about 10-12 weeks of gestation. Don't worry, as your baby gets stronger and larger the heartbeat should be easier and easier to find.

Yes I have had this happen to me. More than once actually. The baby just moves around and makes it a little difficult to find sometimes no need to worry. I am 32 weeks pregnant and they still have a hard time finding my baby's heartbeat it's kinda like a game of hide and seek. Sometimes it just takes longer to find it than others.

Totally normal. With a doppler, the doctor could easily pick up your heartbeat as well as the sounds from the placenta, depending on where it is. My placenta is on the front, so it was a little harder to find the heartbeat so early. Also, the baby is still behind your pubic bone and it is sometimes hard to get the right angle to pick it up.

I had a scan recently and the doctor is able to find the baby's heartbeat in a few seconds. I think maybe your doc is inexerienced.

It is so small it is harder to harder to find. Every visit will get easier and easier. I have a medical grade dopplar and home and at 20 weeks my little mans heart now beat so much louder than at 12 weeks. It will move on you too, one minute you have it and then he will move to the other side. I don't think he likes being poked with the dopplar...lol
