Are you a retailer? If yes, and you will have an actual place where you see your clients face to face, than you can contact Visa, MC etc. and get a merchant account set up with them. But, they will require that you have "point of sale" equipment ( a cash register or computer) that is linked to the internet for direct charges. They will take 5% of your sale for you to have the right to accept a credit card. If you are online you can use paypal. That works very well and the fees are lower. Your best bet is to get in touch with a company that provides cash registers or point of sale equipment. Look them up in the yellow pages since you will want to find someone local to buy or rent the system off of and for maintenance.
