I know it hurts. When I was in fifth grade (now in college) my friend whom I had known since I was in diapers moved to California. I live in Massachusetts. It was really hard because not only had I known her since I was in diapers but we lived in the same apartment house. After she left I felt like I was missing a piece of me. Fifteen years later we're still in touch. Don't try to get rid of the feeling because it'll just stick around longer. Hang out with your other friends but make sure you're not hanging out with to try to replace the friend who left, because trying to replace that friend will never really work. Go out have fun. Do what you would normally do and soon enough that feeling will leave. Try to keep in touch. Don't spend to much time pondering your friend that left because your Friend will move on at some point and you will need to, too. When I say move on though I don't mean completely forget because I highly doubt that either of you will forget whatever has happened between you two. Whenever you really miss your friend think of all the good times you shared because believe me it really does help as cheesy as it sounds.

Best of Luck,

When a close friend moves away its very hard...I know my best friend moved away to FL...and I'm in PA...so its very hard for us to keep in touch...
You're not going to make friends by sitting around and crying over your friend moving away...You have to wipe your tears and just talk to people...
I know thats what I did...I mean for the first 2 weeks of my first semester of college...I didnt talk to anyone...I would go to class...get my work done...go to the computer labs...go to lunch and sit by myself and call my friend that moved...it was AWFUL...
but then the one day these two girls came over to me cuz they saw me crying...(bc I was upset about my friend not being there with me)...and they consoled me and now we've been great friends...and they understand how it feels too b/c their best friends moved too...
so basically what I wantd to say was just put yourself out there...you can still feel as though your friend is your friend..but time will go on and you guys will drift apart...i kno thats what happend with me and my friend...but it will get easier...especially if you just try and make some new friends
