It is absolutely the most wonderful, emotional, exciting thing a person will ever experience. Even my husbad who prides himself as a "man's man" balled like a baby at the birth of both our children. It just amazes you that you created this little person - something that everyone should experience.
And to those of you who are scared - you wont be once you are actaully in the situation. You have 40 weeks to get over the fear. You cannot and will not understand the excitement and anticipation that you feel during those 40 weeks until you're actually there in those shoes!

Childbirth is a wonderful thing, yes, a miracle of nature, but also extremely painful, in the process. It's the most pain I have ever felt in my life and I have 2 children and are "working" on a 3rd. You forget the pain and your hormones etc overwhelm you and the feelings of love for this little person is amazing. When I had my first son, I didn't sleep all day, as I laid in bed just watching him. He's 16 now, but I remember my labour and pregnancy, like it was yesterday and if it was so bad, then women wouldn't give birth every day and I wouldn't be contemplating it for a 3rd time.

I suspect childbirth was horrible but once the baby is in your arms what does it mater? I think giving birth to a child is the greatest thing I've ever done. Even though million have done it, I felt it was the greatest miracle. I've never felt so close to my husband. I'm not a religious person but I felt close to god too.
She's twenty one but I still remember the glory of the first time she was put in my arms. I just found out my niece is pregnant so I've been thinking about the joy of each stage. Even morning sickness seemed a joy to me!
The next pregnancy will never compare. It's still special but doesn't seem such a miracle.

Yes I do agree. Having my son was the first hospital experience I ever had in my life, never had a IV, major surgery ect. I was also induced so you think I would have been extra scared. In all reality women don't realize how well you do and how well you cope. Having a baby is not a scary thing, the unknown is what's scary. I had a high risk pregnancy and ended up having a c-section, and I would do it all over again. Nothing prepares you for when you first see your little angel , it's unexplainable and most definately a miracle!!

Yes I agree. I found our first experience of childbirth one of amazement and sheer joy. I expected the pain and so dealt with it, the total happiness at seeing your baby for the first time is like nothing else i have ever experienced. I hope to do it again some day. I too, will never forget it for all the right reasons. Ignore those people who see the negative in it. One day, hopefully they will have what we have had!

It is and it isn't. Surely someone could come up with a painfree way to get the little tykes out!! But yes, the moment you see the little bundle it just melts away. I've had three now. After the first I swore I'd never do it again, but that glow won through, so much so I had 2 babies within 11 months. And yes I intend to have more!!!!

Labour was the most painful, tiring, tedious thing that I have ever done, however in the same breath, it was the most memorable and rewarding and I can't wait to do it again! The second I felt my new born son on my tummy I knew I was hooked, especially as I wanted to have a boy so much.
He is 10 months old now and doing every thing, from walking to feeding himself.

carrying a child for 9 months can be a nightmare heartburn, piles, sickness, vomiting, getting fat, swelling everywhere, fainting, anaemia, etc as you can see i didn't have a very good pregnancy but after the traumatic experience of childbirth i forgot all that there was this beautiful helpless baby and my husband and i had made this possible! its an overwhelming feeling of love as you say i never thought i could love someone like this. I would never be without her.
