We got a 2 1/2 gallon tank for Christmas and put 2 tiger barbs in it. I treated the water with chlorine remover and put ph balancer in it. I also added a heater to keep temp normal and it has a filter. These fish are still dying. They do well for the first day or so and then they kind of stay in one place and seem to tremble? Can anyone please tell me what I need to do?

You need to get a larger tank. 2.5 gallons is not big enough for anything except maybe a betta or an african dwarf frog. Tiger barbs need at least 30 gallons because they are schoolers and need a lot of swimming room. They are very active fish, and they prefer warm water (78F), not room temperature.

If you want to keep the 2.5 gallon, you'll have to choose a different fish. Because 2.5 gallons is really very small, your options are limied. You could get one betta, or an african dwarf frog, or some plants and shrimp, or two white cloud minnows... and you will have to do frequent water changes (once every other day if you don't have a filter, once a week if you do), and you will need to get a heater.

I also suggest that you avoid using the pH Balancer. Usually tapwater pH is perfectly fine, and even if it isn't, most fish are highly adaptable. A pH that is slightly off is much better than a pH that fluctuates, and a pH balancer will cause such fluctuations.

you've a good style of themes on your tank that do not belong mutually. First, you've way too many fish for a 5 gallon tank. All of those fish, except for the dwarf gourami get too large for a 5 gallon tank. Tiger barbs should be saved in additional desirable colleges.Goldfish are chilly water fish, and they don't belong with tropical fish. Bala sharks should be in colleges and so as that they are in a position to get a foot lengthy. you want to substantiate if the save you receive the fish from will take them decrease decrease back. you want to do a lot more desirable analyze previously you basically randomly throw fish correct right into a tiny tank.

A 2 gallon is too small for tiger barbs, they were probably so stuffed up they couldnt go anywhere. I wouldn't suggest using Ph balancer either, a sudden change in ph will kill you fish off very quickly. good luck in the future.

My Tigers are very active and like to move around alot, they need space. You should get a 10 gallon tank. And your not doing anything wrong with the water, its just the fish. Just please try not to stick your finger in the tank.I do it some times because my barbs nibble on my finger and it tickles but because u have sucha a small tank it matters.
