Actually, it is catching on at a pretty fast rate through the school systems, BUT the reason that it has not caught on in the professional televised sports area is that there aren't any timeouts...NO T.V. COMMERCIAL TIME OUTS....No T.V. advertising endorsements.

Are you kidding me? Football has been taken off! Football, in my opinion is one of the best sports to watch beside hockey, and Im one of those home team type of gal. We are all about football and all American teams. How about the NFL? and the College football? People seem to go crazy when when college football season comes on. Where are you located? If you are from Europe, then when you say football, to Americans it means Soccor.
If you had meant Soccor, then yes Soccor is a total bore. It is more of a South American and European thing. Really when you watch a game on tv the players are so tiny because the field is way too huge. So having such a large background (field) is one factors that makes it boring. Its just hard to keep up with who has the ball. Americans have thier own type of game to be obsessed about and I don't know if we have room for more like Soccor (football to you).

I am an American. The average American sports fan does not have the attention span for football. Or rugby for that matter. They do not want to think about what is happening. National TV will not cover it because there is only the halftime to make them money. A game with no time outs and low scoring is boring to most US sports fans. They are missing out on the beautiful game. I watch FSC and catch as many matches as I can.

Because the Americans are obsessed with games with high/fast scoring games like grid iron football, basket ball, and baseball. They cannot cope with long periods of play with no goals, no matter how good that play may be. They would consider a nil nil draw as pointless.

It's because Americans can't bare the thought of the world's most watched sport, not coming from USA.
So, they watch sports like American football and baseball, which most of the world cannot be bothered with.

Well im american and i love football (soccer). The true americans dont care much for it, but people who's parents are from different countries (like central america) mexico, el salvador, columbia, guatemala and other latin countries have a real liking for the sport. not all americans dont like football(soccer) there are so many people that are really into it, its just that american football and baseball is more publisized.

Americans find it boring. They can not conceive of a game which lasts 90 minutes and ends with a goal-less draw. They like to see loads of goals and razamatazz so they can whoop and holler.
They also, incidentally can not get their heads round a contact sport where the only protection is shin guards.
Besides, they already HAVE football, or their own version of it.
We would need to let them win the world cup before interest ever took off. It's a pity.

Because we were never very good at it. All the best players come from europe and south america. Plus we were heavily distracted by other sports like baseball and football (american rules).

I've just read the replies from our American friends on here and all I can say is, "they don't know what they're missing". I just guess they don't like a sport where there are no frequent breaks to allow them to go out for another corn dog and pepsi.
