Egypt is very safe as long as you use good common sense. Do be careful daeling with the people at the pyramids especially if renting a camel or horse. That's probably the worst you'll deal with. Just wear modest clothing like long pants or long shorts that come just below the knee and a shirt that's not terribly tight. Tourist areas are generally ok even in not so modest clothing but it's good to be respectful and you will draw less attention and therefor also less "unsafe" conditions. The cheapest times are usually in the summer because it's so hot and as someone else mentioned in like Septempber or October. However this year October will be expensive because Ramadan will be in October this year. Followed of course by Eid! I've gotten pretty good deals in January and February as well. It can be a little chilly in Egypt at this time but I'm from Minnesota so compared to snow it was great! It was like a warm spring for me. If you can go at anytime just watch ticket prices for a while and when they are low buy! Also, I know it seems like you can find the best deals yourself by lookibng on-line but I always get a better deal by contacting several travel agents. However looking on the internet is a good way to indicate when general prices are high or low.

It's really safe to go to Egypt as a tourist! The rate of crime in Cairo is extremely low seeing how giant the city is (nearly 20 million by day and 17 million by night). Egyptians won't bother a male tourist if he is well dressed and well-mannered. They are extremely friendly people and generally love visitors. The cheapest and best time to come is winter... come now!!! But bring sweaters.

Yes it safe, just dress properly and behave well-mannered. Egyptians are friendly people and will do anything gladly, so that you will feel at home in Egypt. The best/cheapest time is to go now or maybe easter. Don't even think about going there after easter otherwise you will be cooked like a chicken in the hot sun! I hope you will have a nice time in Egypt (if you go) and God bless! x

Few years ago Egypt was not safe due to some political issues but now the condition is very good there. Anyone can visit there without facing any obstacles.
