My mum died some years ago, but I would have bought her something I thought she would like, such as sweets, and also asked her what she might fancied, a few things. From those, I would pick out at least two if I could afford.

I agree with Trudiev, that's a lovely idea and you could also write down 50 reasons why you love her on pretty paper to add to the photo album, its a gift your mom will treasure forever, its unique, costs very little and any mom would be delighted to know their child cared so much as to take the time and effort to do that for them.

A digital camera, bath salts or oils, a day at a spa, gift certificate from Bed, Bath, and Beyond, clean the house for her for a week, cook her favorite meal and then clean up behind yourself, tell her you love her and a nice card with $50.00 in it.

I would buy her a photo album and get yourself round all the old relatives houses and get photos of her from birth to now, including the times that are special to you, your siblings and your mum.

Being 50+, I suggest a gift certificate to a spa with all of the trimmings.

Please tell me you don't mind the cost or that you will do your best to provide it.

As a loving mum, I would like that very much!

a box of kleenix????? or does she mind getting to 50? lol
my husb was going to put one of those flashing signs in our front yard advertising my 50th until I convinced him I would divorce him if he did...lol....ended up getting me a new bikini.lol
You know what she likes though...go from there....a woman loves shopping.....perhaps a big gift card to her favorite store, a pedicure and manicure, facial the works....jewelry is always good too....or a IOU to "go out to eat once a month for xxx months"

I bought my mum a nice pair of pearl earrings. Jewellry is always a good idea because you can spend as much or as little as you like and it is something she can keep forever.

Are you in the UK? Could you get to London (or any large city really). For my Mum's 60th we took her to a London show and afternoon tea at The Ritz - she loved it!
