I have noticed that my hips and knees started hurting mostly at night time. The pain keeps me up at night and I don't know a good way to alleviate this pain. I don't want to take medications or use a heating pad....has anyone else ever experienced this?

You can use a heating pad on your legs. I got horrible leg aches in my second trimester from all the hormones and relaxin in my body. A heating pad is fine, you just dont want it to elevate your whole body temperature, say, by sticking it under the covers with you, or placing it on your belly or lower back.

I laid without covers on the pad, with my hip, to get rid of the pain. It worked amazingly well. I could even wrap it around my knees when they hurt.

Also, walking and drinking a lot of water during the day helped me a lot. You need to keep the muscles toned, since the ligaments are full of relaxin and super stretchy they need your muscles to support the joints. Obviously you're not striking up a new exercise routine, but just using those muscles will help.

Well yeh sweety. The baby is spreading your hips and everything hurts! Try using a body pillow at night. Cuddle up to it and put the bottom part between your knees. Helps with the pain ALOT.

I had the same thing when I was pregnant the first time - and I even had it in the ribs when baby started pushing out - yikes.. was not fun.

As the others here have said, except the stupid answer 'depends on how many guys you bonked'.. sheesh. Your body is preparing itself for the babies growth and for the birth. I honestly cannot remember what I did to help me, but I did drink a lot of tea - decaffeinated just to ease my stress and took lots of baths..

congrats and good luck.

yes, i am 16 wks and having it too, all around my pelvis and lower back too. i started seeing a chiropractor this week and it's helping. p.s. my doctor told me to ice it, not use heat, unlike the other advice. i also got a pregnancy body pillow at night, and it helps so much.

i had the same problem when i was pregnant. i think it has to do with your you body expanding . i think our bones become soft making it easier to give birth and conform to our growing bellies. you will be OK i think but you should talk about it to your heath care provider to ease you mind, give you tips to help it and make sure there is nothing else going on.

your best using a heat pad or hot water bottle and get your partner to massage you, its just your body preping its self for your pregnancy, it happened to me too! Dont worry about it, stress isnt good for baby!

Like i say just get partner or someone to massage you and use a hot water bottle oh and rest up!!

Good Luck xxx
