The Shia do as they have a big majority in numbers. When the US tried to disarm the Shia militia you will see it on TV. The only solution is to devide the country.

at the starting up there have been no divisions in Islam, yet after Prophet Mohammad's grandchildren died a political conflict recognised and divided Muslims into Sunni and Shiite. Sunnis and Shias agree on the middle fundamentals of Islam - the 5 Pillars - and understand each others as Muslims. notwithstanding, there stay important variations between both sorts of Islam. interior of Shia there are diverse sectors, and some sects. of Shia variety plenty from genuine Islam. the actual undeniable reality that Shiites have lengthy been an oppressed minority – first less than the Ottoman Empire, later less than states like Iraq and Saudi Arabia – has presented about a sturdy identity with the injustices suffered by technique of Hussein and characteristic lent a political measurement to Shiite worship. Ashura celebrations, operating example, are literally not celebrated by technique of Sunnis. the final analysis is that Sunni is extra dominant than Shia and that is the right direction.

No one really seems to be holding onto power very effectively, whether it is the Americans or the Iraqi government. Iraq is in civil war, and I think it's going to be a while until a real framework for stable power emerges. Until then the people of Iraq will sadly be paying the price for all of the fighting.

It depends on where you go. They're all Arabs. In some pockets the Sunni hold power, that majority is Shiite. The Kurds hold power in Kurdistan (northern Iraq). The Americans are a police and occupation force, they don't hold any real power outside of protecting the citizens.

There is probably a struggle for power going on now. I would think the Kurds are best off with the US second best off, but the shia and Sunni Arabs are just slaughtering each other...

At the moment? In most areas it's the Shi'ites, but the Kurds have control of some areas as well. The Sunnis are running scared because they're in the minority, and they don't have Hussein backing them up anymore.
