put my foot on the acelerator and the engine diagnostic warning light goes from flashing to staying on constantly to back to flashing and it doesn't seem to have much power. Any ideas?

Hi there, If any car fitted with a speed detection device for fuelling (within the ECM) If a fault is current in the speedo reading it will flag a fault and cause your eng man light to come on, the ecm needs to know if your are moving so that it can provide the correct info to injectors to fuel under load, if it thinks the car is stationary it will only fuel for idle purpose only, this helps overfuelling and the environment with direct links to emissions

My recomendation would be to get a check up on your oil. sounds like a lack of oil in your engine and can lead to serious problems and possibly blowing a rod. It also can be your O-2 sensor. I wish I could be more helpful.

maybe there is water in your distributer my punto speadgear had the light coming on all the time.
