My little sister plays The Sims 2 and she wants more RAM for the game so I told her that I would take her to Best Buy to get some. I have 766MB RAM right now and I want to upgrade it to 1G. How much will I have to buy and what are some other suggestions on how much I should get in order for her game to be working smoothly.. thank you very much..

Depends on your computer. I suggest buying from http://www.crucial.com. It will walk you through a process of analyzing your computer model/type to match you with the proper RAM.

Even if you don't purchase from them it will tell you the type of RAM you need to purchase.

Good luck!

The game requires alot of "virtual memory". It requires only 256MB of RAM. I would recommend increasing the value of virtual memory by a few hundred. If you are unsure how to do this, do a search for virtual memory in Questions and there are many posts descibing how to change the virtual memory value in Windows.

Going to Crucial.com and using the Crucial Memory Advisor™ Tool, you can determine the kind of memory and the maximum amount you can use per slot.

i would say this! do you or your sis know anything about what to do? if you did buy some ram I would say no you dont! so do this- call a real computer place that fixes computers and find out what all you have to do? and if you will have to bring it to them, so they can do it for you!! dont try it on your own, or if you have a friend that is for sure knowledgable about computers, then get his or her help! dont make things worse by doing it your self . buying a stick or sticks of ram is easy to get but then what do you know about where it goes? just trying to help things go better for ya over and out

The people at Circuit City, Fry's Electronics, or Radio Shack can fix you right up for very little money.

I would take it to a repair/maintenance place. Let someone who does PC stuff for a living help you. Otherwise you could end up buying the wrong thing or something you don't need.
