I’m only 19 years old, I found a small lump on my right breast. It’s at the upper right region. Is it a tumor or just a lymph node? I’m afraid if it’s a tumor. When I press it hard, it’s painful. Or it’s just a post menstrual syndrome? Because I’m on period now. Sometimes I feel a slight pain on my breast. Is this the symptom of tumor growing? Can a woman get breast cancer at the age of 19? Is there’s a possibility of getting breast cancer? Breast cancer may cause only one symptom or many at the same time? I’m confused and scared now. Please help..

You should see your doctor about this asap. It isn't common to get breast cancer at 19 but it could happen. More than likely it is a non-cancerous cyst that may or may not need to be removed. Best thing you can do is calm down and don't put the cart before the horse. See what your doctor has to say before you get so worried. Good luck hun =)

Sure, I 'll be glad to help. Breast cancer can occur at any age...19 is a little young, but not unheard of. To answer a question with another question...do you examine your breasts on a monthly basis?...this is something every woman should do to become familar with all the lumps and bumps we normally have. If you don't know how, ask your physciain to show you or call the American Cancer Society and they will send you a brochure.
Now as to your problem, this may be nothing more than a fibrocystic lump which occurs in many women...myself included. They becomne painful just before a period and right after. To lessen their occurence, lower caffeine intake, and wear a well supporting bra. Find out what your female side of the family has
as history with Breast Cancer...that is very important....mother, sister, maternal aunt, grandmother...especially before the age of 60. Make an appointment to day with your octor and have a mammogram and breast examination. He may suggest another type of procedure as the young female breast has very dense tissue, and mammograms sometimes don't pick up the lump well...at any rate, see your doctor and good luck!

Yes, go to your doctor - but even more important I suggest you begin to get more familiar with your body so that some things you can recognize as intermittently 'normal' - such as pain the breasts pre/during/shortly after menses...Nodes also can be affected....and may hurt when pressed during this time. And also Yes, breast cancer can occur at any age and can also occur in men.

Another possible cause of your discomfort could also be fibrocystic disease [calm down- it's not serious]..which is a thickening of tissue and can manifest as a small lump.

While at the doctor's learn how to effectively do a breast exam and when done every day you will soon become more familiar with the changes you experience during a month.

RELAX.....:-)
