He did not go far enough, probably out of politeness. It is the worst in our history, not only because it is wrong, but because it is mean spirited. He right to oppose it, for it has, and still does, violate so many of the principles this country has long stood for. We must put a stop to BushOilCo and their private war for Plunder and Dominion over the Middle East, for not only will we lose on the ground for no good reason, but every day longer this goes on more young Muslims grow to hate us for the death and destruction Bush's war brings them.

As more and more Republicans come to realize the consequences of the rash and irresponsible decisions President Bush has been making, they will come to see the wisdom of Senator Chuck Hagel's statement regarding Iraq. It is nice to see concerned Americans finally waking up to the consequences of the current leadership in the White House.

I think he got it right because it is an extremely dangerous foreign policy. We are risking our troops' lives over sectarian religious strife while we ignore the genocide in Dafur and the real WMD in Iran and North Korea. Our priorities are wrong. Do you know only 20% of the freight coming into America by boat is inspected? We have not implemented the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission and we have left our country extremely vulnerable to terrorism. Every day we spend in Iraq makes it worse and every dime we spend in Iraq could be better used for security at home.

Chuck Hagel R. Nebraska, is playing politics that have nothing to do with the war in Irak. He's thinking about the next elections in 2008 and that is bad for a so called leader. Mr. George W. Bush made a decisions that I know was hard for him to make but he made it and we as Americans have to stand behind him for the sake of our country and world peace. His decision shows that he have back bone that most Democrats don't. As Americans that's our leader and we have to stand by him because this is a war and we cannot divided our self or else the same thing that happened in Vietnam is going to repeat itself. Today we are still paying for those decisions that were taken in Washington because of the division of the American people against the war. 50,000+ Americans died in Vietnam and we retreated in shame.. not again, please.

He, like everyone else, is entitled to his opinion. He is one of the few in Washington who actually seems to be speaking for his constituency, which after all, is his job.
It is impossible to say whether he has it "right or wrong" as I would be giving my opinion. If you want my opinion, I would say he has it right.
If the GOP's "surge" idea feels familiar, it ought to: Nixon stepped up the bombing of North Vietnam before the 1972 peace talks in order to improve our hand in negotiations. Rather than soften up the enemy, it hardened their resolve.
Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it...

Wrong
Lets see what other Viet-Nam vets have had to say.
Troops are terrorist, dumb, and cold blooded murder.
Lieberman likes the presidents idea.
Yes he is vet but does he have knowlege of all the intell Bush was given. You can serve in the military doesn't make you an expert of plans. This is not Viet-Nam as much as you want to think it is.

Chuck Hagel is the lone sane voice in a sea of insanity, in my opinion. Sending more troops into the midst of sectarian violence (ie civil war) will do nothing but kill more of our soldiers.
