i have made the slide show and put in the music and when i write to cd it says cannot detect cd writer

apparently your PC is not recognizing the cd player. Try this. Right click on your "my computer" icon on your desktop, click properties. When this opens, click "device manager". it will show all your hardware on your pc. Go down the list till you find your cd player. Now, is there a yellow exclamation point next to the cd player ? If so then there is some kind of conflict going on. Try right clicking on the cd player then click "update driver". It will search for the best possible driver and install it automaticlly.
If this doesn't work and if you have a installation disc for the cd player, try reinstalling it. Good luck. Mikie.

The problem seems to be the CD more than anything. Are you sure it is a CD-RW?
Try giving the CD a wipe with a moist soft cloth, working from the centre outwards.
Try the whole process again and if stuck- tell us which program you are using too.
