It is considered an honor to become a martyr in the Islamic religion.
I do wish the media would stop referring to them as "suicide" bombers. That infers that only one person is killed.

The Kamikazi (World War II the term was used for a Japanese suicide air force composed of fliers who crashed their bomb-laden planes into their targets, usually ships) -like attacks are a simple replacement for guidance systems the terrorists do not have.
In the belief they are killing infidels (non-believers in Islam and the tenets of the Koran), they achieve martyrdom in their own death (suicide) in the attempt. Media and others refer to them as Islamic-Extremists, because they take the most violent of the Koran's passages in their literal forms.
It's worthy to note that these suicide-attacks never involve any of the so-called leaders; It's possible that the suicidal terrorist does not contemplate that point at all.
For a person to accept the entire lunatic concept, probably means there is little anyone can do to change their minds or alter their determined path. They believe they will be closer to God. What could anyone offer better than that, if that's what they believe?

Osama Bin Laden once said the difference between us and Americans is that Americans are afraid to die, we look forward to it. The Koran tells you if you are a martyr for your faith you will be greeted in heaven by 7 virgins and treated as royalty...the terrorists see what they do as the ultimate sacrifice for their faith, even though the Koran does not even mention terrorist acts

It's a combination of living in a life where you see no hope for improving your situation and being promised a better life after you are dead. Hopelessness combined with a self-destructive interpretation of religion make for strong motivators

I believe that they are cowards. They are willing to kill others and not hang around to take their punishment, therefore, they kill themselves in the process. I would much rather be able to torture their a**, and give them the treatment that they deserve, but they know what will happen to them if they don't die, cause I am not the only person who feels this way.

As someone posted earlier, the leaders never do it. They brainwash someone else to do it for them. I wonder how much people like Bin Laden actually believe the bit about going to heaven if you die for the faith. He has never shown any inclination to do it. In fact, he has shown, despite his boasts, an aversion to dying for anything.

terrorists kill themselves because they get "rewarded" in heaven for their actions. I think they get 1000 virgins. Most think they're doing it for the good of mankind.

In there eyes, they are dying for their god. Doing their gods bidding. So if they die for their god, they will go to heaven and get lavished with gifts and woman. Sad I know, but this is what they believe.
