I have worked at the same place for about 7 years. I am very happy there, I get to be outdoors, My bosses feel like my parents to me, they pay for me to go to the doctor when I am sick, they buy me things all the time, they are constantly reminding me how they couldn't run the business without me (I am the manager). The only thing is this job is only seasonal (6 or 7 months a year) and I have no benifits, and I get really bored when I am not at work. I have been struggling with a decision for years, I have even applied and got very good jobs when I was off work only to quit and return to this job becasue I miss the people there so much. Should I make myself get another job or enjoy the one I have.

An interim solution might be to take a temp or contract job for those months when you are not working. Some temp agencies even include benefits, so that would allow you to keep the job you enjoy, but gain some more money and also some benefits. If you really love the job, you might mention to your bosses that you would like to take on more responsibility, but you would also like benefits. If they really cannot run the business without you, they should be willing to make concessions to keep you happy. If they are not willing to do so, look for another job.

Would it be possible to find a full time job and only work part time for these people? Maybe you could ask them if they know of another seasonal job that is good when their business is slow? Sounds like you have a good relationship with them. I would tell them of your problems and ask them for advise.

Good Luck!

You sound like you have it really good! I understand your problem, but maybe you should discuss this with your boss. You never know, they might negotiate with you.
If not, maybe it IS time to move on. Good luck!
