A lot of it comes from better athletes playing other sports. I dont think that its the fact American people dont like it, we just have other things that we enjoy. You have Nascar, Football (american), Baseball, Hockey, and Basketball, to name a few. When it comes right down to it, the kids who would be great in soccer end up playing different sports. In the spring time you have a majority of the really fast kids doing Track. In the Fall you have a majority of the great athletes playing football. Also there are not many kids in the US that grow up dreaming of playing soccer. Its dreaming about a 2 minute drive to win the big football game, or a bottom of the 9th two run blast to with the world series...

Bottom line... we do not have a product that is worth watching.

Kids really like soccer in the United States, for most kids play on soccer teams (thus the phrase - soccer mom). As for why we don't like soccer as adults, it just isn't main stream right now. The main sports in the US are basketball or hockey in winter, baseball in spring/summer and (american) football in the fall. We just don't have the time to watch another sport.

I don't enjoy team sports in general. My cousin is a Hogs fan (Arkansas Razorbacks). I have gone to football games because my cousin likes to go. Most spectal sports include people yelling and screaming and some do it right by your ear. The stadiums will hold 50000 people or more. I paid $50 dollars for a seat. My hip needs to be replaced. People stand up and down when plays are made and I can not get up and down. I spent 85% of one game looking at peoples butts who stood or got up and down during one game.
