No... I'm useless w/ this stuff, but for a model / inspiration Melissa & Doug (that's the company) make a very cool wooden toy one with a working lock and secret compartment.

Do lots of fun bright colors. Try different flavored salt water taffy, candy necklaces, suckers, skittles and starburst. Honestly, kids will be excited no matter what! Don't get too worked up over details because it will all be over and eaten in a couple of hours!

Check out diynetwork.com or Home & garden television. They have chests and other do it yourself projects. I just got plans for a platform bed.
