Because the world is not a one issue place and politics can never be about one cause or one issue. There may be a great incumbent who has done great things for their community, but doesn't agree with your assessment of what Bush is doing in Iraq. This seems like a thinly-veiled approach to criticize Bush's plan in the form of a question. Boo.

As someone who must not pay attention to what people in D.C. really do the better question would be did you vote for any incumbent Democrats, as they voted in huge numbers to support the Iraq War. Publicly they have to say other things to keep dancing bears like you playing along. But when the US went to war in Iraq both houses of Congress had a Democratic majority larger than this one now. So did you vote for incumbent Dems or are you just a magpie? If you did the or if you plan to vote for incumbent Dems in 2008 you are what you protest.

You and everyone like you should stop listening to the liberal media and try something completely different. Think for yourselves. My God! Have you ever picked up a ******* history book? Have you ever listened to anything other than the sound of your own digestive system? (Head up *** syndrome.)
Sweetheart, war is part of life. Man has been warring against man since the beginning of time and will continue to do so until the end of time.
Perhaps if Clinton had addressed the situation with Iraq and done the job that we, the American people, paid him to do instead of chasing tail on the clock, we might not have been in this situation now. Sadaam had to be dealt with. Do the names Hitler and Stalin mean anything to you? Probably not.
Whining is not attractive, nor does it make a point. Why don't you dig up a few facts before you open your mouth? Think before you say something stupid and then have a nice cup of STFU.
Edit> Amen, Lane. Amen. Finally, reason speaks in the face of stupidity.

Considering how many troops are there already, 21,5k isn't that much more. Rather than viewing it as an escalation, think of it as more support for our troops already there, and a way to hasten our exit from Iraq.
Also, i wonder if you realize that our forces in Iraq are supplementary to a vastly larger Iraqi army, which is freindly with our country and a close ally in a part of the world where we dearly need one. If we leave Iraq now, it would likely descend into a chaotic situation throughout the entire region.
Of course I agree, the way it is now is by no means an ideal situation, but it is preferable to the US leaving and allowing a greater problem to develop, which ultimately could require much more than a boost of 20,000 troops to squash.
Durbin's response to Bush's speech was nothing but sound bites- according to him, we've accomplished all we intended. we determined their were no weapons of mass destruction, we removed saddam from power, and we paved the way for a democratic system to take root in Iraq. Why should we just desert them now when we are this close to succeeding in a free Iraq?
Durbin offered no explanation of what would happen in Iraq when we left - does he prefer to see Iraq become a Taliban hotbed?
Of course, if the current Iraqi government is not successful, there will be GIANT problems developing. The way it is now, almost as many US soldiers die in this country every day (for various reasons) than are killed in Iraq. The cost is always great when even one US serviceman gives his life in war, but the stakes are higher in Iraq than you or the democrats seem to think.
These democrats, btw, are the same bunch that supported the initial invasion and were even calling for more troops themselves earlier this year. They are as wishy-washy as they come and sway to whichever way public opinion blows. And the ignorance surrounding this increase of troops, or even the US involvement in Iraq by a large percentage of the American public is astounding. We made a commitment in Iraq and we should at least give it the opportunity to succeed.

I believe most Americans supported Mr. Bush's decision.
I believe Bush only started getting a lot of opposition once it became evident that America was losing another war.

Why dont you spend just 10 minutes of your time talking to our military and find something productive to do with all that hatred you have. Its amazing how much smarter our armed forces are compared to people with your mentality. They know what they are fighting for and they believe in what they are fighting for,its people like you that keep up the hatred and trying to turn america against the very people defending this country.
