I don't recall any babies and little kids being shot. Admittedly, there have been a few high profile incidents. But, while the crime is currently bad, it's drug-related. Let's relocate every drug dealer in your city to a new and concentrated area and see what happens. Once the herd is thinned out murders will drop. Call me a pessimist, but vendetta killings are as easily prevented as domestic violence murders. If the victim doesn't want to leave the situation, then they stand a good chance of becoming a statistic, no matter how many patrol cars are roaming around.

Overall, the city is going to be a great place to live again. The kids will realize that a lot of opportunities are now available to them in the new city. Demand for high school educated people actually meets supply nowadays. That will hopefully entice them to stay in school and not throw themselves into the "get rich quick, die young" culture previously occupying the city.

Oh, and the Saints winning a Superbowl will not cause any unrest. LSU won a National Championship in the Superdome three years ago and we have a million people in the streets every Mardi Gras, and I have never seen a cop in riot gear. I credit the NOPD's talk softly and carry a big stick attitude. Unlike when I lived in Boston, NOPD will not break out the riot gear if more than a dozen people are having fun in the streets.

If the Saints keeping winning it will be an excuse to riot and the city will burn. You'll see a brief period of martial law then.

I believe it's time for GODs' law in New Orleans. That will be their only salvation. Thank you and GOD bless.

As far as I'm concerned it should have been put under martial law before Katrina hit and stay that way forever.

The mayor is a joke, the city should never be rebuilt.
