From the 96 that you have free surelly the windows eats the rest.....so everything you do is slow. Add some RAM you will be amazed by the differece.

Ram is actually the memory that your computer uses to run any application at any one time.......so when you run your web browser that takes up some of your RAM......and adding some more RAM can help but it is not the only way to speed up your web browser.......other ways is get a better connection such as a high speed connection...broadband..or DSL.......and also your processor may need to be bumped up to a better processor.......and are you running XP? because if you are thenyou might want to dump it for a older version so your browser could load better.......and if and when you want to add RAM that has to be the easiest upgrade you can possibly do just make sure you have the correct RAM for your system.........good luck

Yes, you have a very small about of RAM and so whenever you try to perform any operating - such as opening a web browser to access a page on the internet - you computer will have to "swap" other memory pages out.

So, in order to speed things up make sure that you have as little running as possible. Shut down all unused applications and services.

If you are running an operating system such as Linux, then you can get away with just 128Mb RAM - but you would really have to cut things down. More memory hungry operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows XP, need at least 512Mb RAM.

When you computer runs, it moves the programs it is running (such as Internet Explorer) and any data (such as the web page you are looking at) into RAM memory. The more RAM you have, the more programs and data files you can have open at a time. If the computer runs out of RAM memory, it will "freeze" for a moment as it decides what it has to remove from memory and temporarily swap to hard drive to make space for what you are actually using. The less memory, the slower your computer will run.

Windows XP requires a miminum of 128mb to run. If you have 32 of that shared to your video, XP is going to drag. In fact, I am suprised that it even keeps running.

You need to seriously consider upgrading the memory in your computer. Take one of the memory in to a good computer store and they will be able to match it with a "larger" chip. Double the memory to 256, and you will see an incrediable increase in your computer's speed.

ram shouldn't effect loading of websites too much. what kind of internet connection do you have? it is more than likely a combination of things - your ram, space on your hard drive, bandwidth...try doing some ping tests. open up command prompt. type "ping -t www.yahoo.com" it will continuously ping until you hit ctrl-z. if the ping times are around 40ms or so, then your connection itself is good. is it any particular website that has problems loading? it might be your ram if it has problems loading pics and the like very fast.

Try a defrag on your pc.

Go to:

My Computer > Right Click on the local disk icon > Properties > Tools Tab > Defragment now

This should compress most files on your computer and free up some memory for speed purposes

You really do not have enough RAM to run XP efficiently, and you ought to add some if you can.

Page loads are more controlled by your connection speed rather than RAM though.
