of giving urself a bad credit rating as a young 16 yr old....Do u have to live with it forever, or will it get easier as i get older to get loans etc....How long? im now 21 and still cant get credit...will they use it against me 4eva

Marks on your credit rating stay on it for seven years after they've been fixed. If you've been good about your credit since you were 17 or 18, you have at most another three years or so until things are squeaky clean.

No it usually takes about 10 years. Order your credit report to make sure it is accurate.

And be sure to order your credit report after 10 years as some companies will try and keep negative remarks on your credit report. You just file a dispute and the credit agency will remove it.

Check all 3 credit agencies also.

Depending on how badly you messed up, things can stick around for 7 years. It helps if you did eventually pay off what you owe. If you have outstanding balances, you might want to see a credit councilor.
