The real worry is not so much that we are headed for another world war as much as the United States is slowly being led into the path of dictatorship - if not just plain old communism.

Let's see what we have lost in the name of national security:
* The right to privacy. No matter where you travel to or from, you can be searched, your bags or packages can be searched and can even be confiscated without compensation.

* The right to keep and bear arms. You don't think so? Legislation is now in the works that will limit the number of firearms any American citizen can possess - as well as the amount of ammunition kept for those weapons. There are a whole heap of people in this country that collect firearms - and ammunition - who have never fired a single shot. Some people collect string and pennies and buttons. Our constitution makes no mention of resticting the number or amount in that right.

* Your social security number is PRIVATE. Yet it is required for insurance, opening a bank account, applying for a credit card, buying a car, getting employment, entering school or a university, getting a driver's license, getting a passport, getting a hunting license, buying a gun. Your social security card clearly states that your card should NEVER be used for identification nor should it be carried with you. So why give out the pertinent information on it? Don't think for a second that the person you give that number to is not using it to do a background check on you.

* You are not trusted by airlines - no matter how you look.

* Presumed innocent until proven guilty? Isn't that backward? There was not a single shred of evidence presented in the Scott Peterson trial proving that he killed his wife and unborn son. The only thing the evidence pointed to is that he was a total jerk most of his adult life. Nothing was presented that indicated he was a murderer. And yet, he was convicted. He was convicted by the media long before it went to trial.

* The right to due process was thrown out the window shortly after the events of 9-11 with the signing of the patriot act. Thanks to the patriot act, you can be detained, searched, questioned and even jailed without benefit of so much as a phone call - for months - on suspicion that you might be a terrorist.

No, It's already started. Just as WW2 started in China but no one noticed so I believe that WW3 started when the USA backed Saddam against the percieved greater threat of Iran the sowed the seeds of a whirlwind and on Sept 11 reaped their harvest. Now we are fighting Muslims either directly or indirectly in Afghanistan, the phlilpinnes, UK, USA, Iraq, Iran,etc,etc.. it's already a world war in the sense that it's a worldwide war. All we need to do now is turn it into a true Jihad/Crusade and the blood can really start flowing.

"We have been since the end of WW II, it's next in the sequence.

I'm not sure when it will happen tho', however, when I was very young I remember some bloke on Nationwide (now the 6 o'clock news) expressing his prediction that the next world war would eminate from the middle east.

And he wasn't Nostradamus"

Although Nostradamus did say something about war with Persia. Did he mean war, as in the current Resistance against the western Alliance? Or something bigger?

This questioned has been asked over a hundred times here already. The answers have been yes, no, and maybe. Do what I'm doing, cut out all the health foods and switch to the good stuff, we're all going to die anyway. I had eggs, sausage, whole milk, and real butter on my toast this morning, damn that tasted much better than soy milk, tofu, and a rice cake!

We have always been at war, it never ends. Whether it's called WWIII or not, until people can accept that we are all different we will continue to be at war with each other until the end. So Enjoy life and those that you share it with. Peace to all

Honestly, I think so. And I also think it's all Osama bin Laden's fault. George W. Bush walked right into his trap. Now Bush acts like he's "the decider", and yet the Americans haven't even caputred bin Laden yet. The sooner we get bin Laden, the sooner the world can achieve peace, the sooner we can impeach Bush.

of course we are. Thsi is why Saddam was hung, america wants as much oil as they can possibely have before Korea goes off, and turns into another Vietnam! If you watch the news carefully you can see how they are easing us into it, like they are preparing us for it, but its not a shock for anyone with half a brain.

And for people who think its bin ladens fault, please remember that America used to supply arms to bin laden, Bush knew the attack on the trade centre was imminent but he needed that as an excuse to invade iraq, its all so complicated but a big cover up. Its very scary, that Bushis supposed to be the good guy when everyone knows he's not, he is a bigger tyrant than saddam or bin laden
