gossipy, immature, rude, etc?
In my role as receptionist for a municipality, it is important to be friendly, polite, confidential, and very professional.
I don't think it's appropriate to participate in office gossip, and I treat everyone the same friendly and respectful way, and don't bring my problems to work (i.e. don't share the all the details of my personal life.) What you see is what you get - I have no personal agenda and am a soft-spoken, yet assertive person.
I job share with someone who is the exact opposite. She is a "queen bee" prima donna type that everyone hovers around. She has a professional image - but she is very fake and everything is all about her and her agenda. Honestly, it feels like Mean Girls - and we're all adults here! Any tips/advice?

okay - she just called me at home on my day off and tried to make it seem as though she was having a "problem" with something very minor that I did not do that I should have. Now she will be blowing this out of proportion all day to everyone who goes past the reception desk...you get the idea?

Rise above the situation. Don't get involved. If the Queen Bee ever appraoches you about your inactivity or tries to gossip, tell her straight out that you do not engage in that behavior. Period. Ahhhhh. I hate "those people."

I agree to just ignore it. I worked at an apartment complex with all women. The whole day all they did was gossip about the "higher ups" and residents. I found myself just walking out of the room, or making myself busy. Once they see your disinterest, they will stop usually. If they do not stop, then simply tell them you don't have time to chat about this subject, and continue to do the good job you're doing ;o) I've added a URL with some sound advice. Good luck!

This is an easy one.
Just Pray for her.
That's it, lay it on Jesus desk and let him handle it.
This is the secret to dealing with those types of people.
It was the only way I was able to deal with the union shop Stuart at my job.
I prayed for him and then BAMB, its was over.
He's still a busy body, but nothing like he was.
Ive done this for several people at work and it always worked and I wasn't even the only person who noticed the changes in these people.
Remember Jesus tells us to pray for those who would spitefully use us.

Just ignore it. Realize the games of Highschool are not exclusive to highschool and that you are an atypical woman, but thats perfectly ok!
If she tries to pull you into her BS then tell her very flatly that you don't play that game.

Your going to get it every where you go for life. Just stick to the good attitude you have and don't talk bad about other people, it can be hard cause sometimes its fun to make fun of the weird folks. But keep the attitude you have and it will save you lots of trouble and drama, although some woman live for drama if they don't get it they will go crazy. So you seem really cool Good luck

Watch and soon you will see them make a fool of themselves. ;o) Worked with one who was like this but the more she spoke the more she looked like a idiot to others.

Just be yourself. Always be professional, and don't participate in or acknowledge gossip.
The "fake" will be exposed. She probably already is.
