This is a picture of a 1967 Mach 2 concept. What do you think of it? I looks like the Pantera. http://bradbarnett.net/mustangs/concept/mach2/

It was obvious that Ford felt the impact the Corvette was giving Chevrolet. I am glad they left the sports car design to Chevy. Mustangs weren't meant to be "Sports cars" per se... they were meant to be an affordable "pony" car. More along the lines of the Chevy Nova than the Corvette.

What is funny... is that Chevy then felt the impact the Mustang was taking and designed the Camaro to be the counterpart to the Mustang.

Both of those cars have gone through some good times and bad times. Remember the Mustang II's in the 70's? A glorified Pinto. The gas crunch really took it's toll on the pony cars in that era. Now GM Cancelled the Camaro and looking to bring it back. Interesting evolution of those cars.

yeah looks similar to the 80's corvette.
but i like the one the launched it was a marvelous design for those days. no wonder mustang was the most sold car in history.
it was a affordable muscle car with great looks.

the one reason that would have stopped from making that concept a production unit might be that it s a little huge and could have been very expensive for having all those curves and body volume.

remember mustang was always priced good to attract large volumes of customers

Frankly, it looks stupid. I am a huge Mustang fan and that is not something I would get. If you want to find a good Mustang, go to www.cars-on-line.com and you will find quite a few.
