what i know is about branding, hope this is correct and can help you

so branding means creating an image for a product, its the combination of character, identity and reputation that is developed by the product and its associations such as the product might be coffee but its identified and branded as a particular make, such as Nescafe.

there are definite advantages that a branded product enjoys, its like it can sells more easily and at a premium price and consequently, the branded product is often welcomed by the wholesalers, distributors and retailers because of its added value.

Branding, targets your companies strengths, for example if you owned a community bank in a small town you might want to be known or Branded as "The Bank With Community Spirit" or "The Friendly Service Bank" Many times companies will create a slogan to use in Jingles and ads to promote a Brand or image of why they are better than the competition. Burger King Brands themselves as the place to "HAVE IT YOUR WAY"

Branding is simply differentiating yourself from the competition. Normally you achieve "branded" status when you possess one unique advantage, a position in the minds of your customers that nobody can take away from you. For example, when you think of Volvo vehicles you immediately think of "safety". Other companies may spend billions of dollars trying to convince customers that their cars are "safer" or "as save as" Volvo, however they have a close to zero chance of being successful. Long ago, Volvo chose that niche and it is now deeply rooted in the consumers' minds. Once you've created your brand and your unique branding proposition, you then must communicate and protect that brand with a unique logo, strict graphics standards, patents, etc., and of course by delivering on your brand's promise.
