If he had come back to England then he would have been a waste of space as he's too slow & simply not good enough. Hence, he would have ended his career on a low.
What makes me laugh is when he said if he made this decision when we was 34 then he would have been seen as a money grabber, so he decided to do it when he was 32 instead. What you're not a money grabber for doing it two years earlier? What an idiot.
He knows that if he came back to England then he would not have got so much in Amercia two years later cos he would have benn so crap.

More fool them for offering him silly money. We're all hypocrites - which of us wouldn't sign for that sort of money?
I agree with Ste, it does sicken me that the world has such inequality. No-one is worth that much more than someone else. In places like India people can't afford £5 operations, or to send their children to school, they have to work instead. Fathers are committing suicide because of loan sharks, where a £50 loan turns into a life-time burden.
However, Beckham is a nice bloke who does give something back. He has a soccer skills Academy which is near the Dome. My son won a day's training there, Beckham showed up and was wonderful and patient with the children. It was also reported in our local paper that a hospice here got a phone call out of the blue from Victoria's mother, asking them if they'd like a cheque for some equipment. She said that they don't build hospitals etc., but like to donate wheelchairs etc. to existing places.
There's a website, davidbeckhamacademy.

How to sum up david beckham i dont think i hav enough space so i'll jus put in the important stuff. I swear his wife is supposed to be the model of the family unfortunately they seem to hav dere wires crossed and he is the one left wearing the sarong in public.
Ge wis a sarong next he'll bring out his own dresses, if that aint bad enough he is thick as two very short planks. No Premier league team wanted him cause he is well past his sell by date, and even if they did they wod need huge amounts of money to afford his wages (only really chelsea wages bunch of idiots), his wife has no talent, dere kids apparently hav a lot to live up to but i dont see it somehow washed up ex spice girl and a father who cant string a sentance together without saying ahhh and who plays for MLS Galaxy not really golden balls anymore more like rusted balls. if i was to some up david beckham in two words they wod be UTTER PRAT. i mean its all about the money now no longer about the football, i am an arsenal supporter (they play the best football in the premiership) but if u want proper football watch the lower leagues like league two. Acrington Stanley of conference Burton Albion

Why won't people give him a chance? I heard all reports from sports analysis that this is such a big deal for America. I love soccer and im disappointed that America don;t love soccer as much as football. Maybe he will give it much attention and I know he won't raise MLS to the level of the NFL. Of course it's about money. Everything is about money these days. All our athletes are being paid like ridiculous amounts of money but I'm not going to be pressed about it. About Hollywood, I think it's his wife Victoria..she wants to move to acting and wanted to be in LA. I think marrying her probably wasn't good idea. I mean all the attention was focused on his marriage to posh spice, remember? I want to see what he can do when he plays in LA...

How can someone say for another person which he does't even know that he/she is rubbish?! Beckham is an excellent footballer and all that discussions about his money...well, he has earned it by himself, he hasn't stolen it from anybody. People who are saying all those bad things about him are actually very jealous and would give anything to be like him.

I guess he's the best you can get in soccer in America.
Plus we all know that American fame is usually accompanied by a lot of sexiness and not always corresponding talent.
(I cite Katie Holmes, Nicolas Cage, Sharon Stone ...)
I don't think they'll soon realize it. I think they'll have a lot of fun with a superstar. Sports = spectacle.

It certainly seems ... it's all about the money
ny post front page
Spend it like Beckham
and all they talk about is the money he's making and how they're spending big time ... not a fan or anything but these sports "deals'' are getting way out of hand.

soccer is not as big in the USA as other countries... he claims to want to bring the passion to the states... for $50 million a year...i 'd stand on my head...so its def about the money... and we Americans see this... its no different from any other sports person getting paid mad amounts of money to play.

It is all about the money but even though he isn't good enough to play in the premier league he will still probably be one of the best player in the MLS. But he still won't make anyone care about the league

I hate David Beckham so much, all he did/does is kick and a ball same with all of them, I kicked a ball at school, I never got paid millions, are the Americans that daft to let him into the country to rob money that can be given to the helpless children of Africa!
