a certain form letter is to be sent to prospective customers. If 4 model-X computers working independently can do a combined total of 4 of the letters in 4 minutes, then 100 model-X computers working indenpendly can do a combined total of 100 of the letters in exactly how many minutes?

Set up the working proportion:

4 letters/ 4 workers/ 4 minutes = 100 letters/ 100 workers/ X minutes

Solve for X.

4/4/4 = 100/100/X

(4/4)/4 = (100/100)/X

1/4 = 1/X

X=4

4 computers can do 4 letters in 4 minutes.

100 computers can do 100 letters at the same rate ie 4 minutes

4 letters in 4 mins.. for 4 computers
100 letters in 4 mins.. for 100 computers
as each computer takes 4 mins to finish one letter
hence 100 computers can finish 100 letters in 4 mins

4 models - 4 letters - in 4 minutes
100 models - 100 letters - t minutes?

Model1*time1/letters1=Model2*time2/letters2

4*4/4=100*t2/100
16/4=t2
t2=4

4 minutes
the correct answer is A.
