The wound may be healed, but changing studs now would increase the chance that the holes will close back up if you leave them out for more than a minute or two. The 6 week rule is to insure that the wound is healed and that your holes can withstand longer periods of time without having an earring inserted.

If you really want to change studs, I would recommend taking the ones in there now out and immediately replacing with the studs you change to. Also, make sure the studs you are thinking about switching into are not of any fake material (at least sterling silver, gold, or surgical steel and are sterilized) as even people that have not previously had a reaction to low quality metal could have a reaction when changing earrings early.

Hope this helps =)

it's best to wait at least six weeks. That's when the ear is guaranteed to be fully healed.

I think its healed when it no longer hurts when you touch it and you can move the earring around freely

leave it two weeks after they say you're allowed to remove them to make sure it's okay :DD
