I love that song.
It's by Sheryl Crowe and the title is The First Cut is The Deepest.. That's also the name of her CD.

The theme song is by Psapp and it's called "Cosy in the Rocket"
but it sounds like the song you're talking about is First cut is the deepest by Sheryl Crow.

The theme song is Psapp's Cosy in the Rocket. I think you may have been mistaken... the lyrics go like this "Nobody knows where they might end up" but it's not that clear... you may have heard it as "the first cut is the deepest?" :-)
