I think it's a conglomeration of stories written by many people; some were trying to just record history, some were trying to explain things that they had no idea what was going on; some were trying to put a moral on whatever event had happened. Then it was translated, copied, mistranslated, miscopied, and sometimes deliberately changed many times, until we finally got today's version.

The old testament is more of an historical document, written years after the event.
The new testament may be similar but was again written years later. The books of the bible were altered to fit in with the politics and social beliefs of the time. Much history has been changed or lost forever. The new testament seems to be a little bit of history and a lot of fabrication in order to control the people at the time it was written.
Lets face it the testaments were translated so many times. Things get misinterpreted or down right twisted according to the politics at the time of translation.

No! It's a sieres of events that are all true. They are written by thousands of different, but in one mind. The Bible was inspired by God, as it says. So it's not just a novel written by a great story teller, but a biography by many different men, that had the same idea from God.

Bible was written by more than 40 authors with different social status (from fisherman to kings) and took about 1500 years to complete. It is so far the world record holder in terms of the numbers of books sold/published. It is a book which has thousands of archeological manuscripts that has been found. However, many people doubts its reliablity due to its historical accounts that contradicts modern science. Before jumping to any conclusions or believing anyone's comment on its truthfulness, better read it for yourself from cover to cover (just a like novel or a thesis manuscript).

Kind of. It's written more like an historical document (well, the Old Testament at least). But, it is so fragmented because it was written by so many people. As a "story" the flow is broken to much to be readable and enjoyable. As an historical document, however, it is quite useful.

And yes, it has some wisdom as well. Spiritual value.

I think the same about the Bible as I do about Priests and Ministers. I mean they were just men who wrote it right? I have yet to meet a man or woman who I can trust completely. The Bible to me is a great book, but I have read alot of good books. Look at what some of the atrocities that some of our so called Priest and Ministers have committed.

It's not one book it's a collection of books written over many years. Some of it (i.e. Genesis) is a poetic explanation about creation and God's existence. But overall there is a lot in the Bible written about the same events but from a different perspective. Hence the anomalies.

The bible was writen by many Jewish story tellers over a period of 2,000 years, using myths and legends, plus a smattering of history and local events. I'm not so sure that you could call it a great story though.

I regard it as a history book that is open to interpretation! It is affected by periodisation. No one can really know what it was like in the days that it what written. Social values and norms and behaviours have evolved dramatically since. Many people interepret its preachings for their own good and not necessarily for others!
