My partner and I have split up, and she has transferred all her banking to her own personal account. I have been using the account as my own, and need to get her name removed. If she is the primary, can this be done with her permission?

I would open a new account myself because she may try to tap into your resources. How long would you have to wait before she acted to solve this problem build up your own life without her.I think she has to remove her own name, but I am sure the bank will resolve it for you.Lindsay.

There really isnt a "primary" account holder, its a joint account, meaning that every person on the account has the same functionality as the other. Noone has more privaleges, its joint. BUT it also depends on your bank, so many you should check with your bank. But im sure that you are able to do whatever you please. Also, your ex partner might have to be the one thats going to have to call and take his or her name off or go into the branch and remove their name themselves. Hope this helps!

If she is the primary, your hands are tied. She is the one who has the permission to make any changes to the account. You have to get her consent to either switch it or you have to open an account of your own.
