in division you use different symbols like for example, elevating the divided, making it a little higher from the divisor. colons are used to show somewhat like a ratio (a:b) A slash (/) is also used for fractions. a venculum is used for expressions that need grouping. For example, a/(b+c). Slash could be replaced by a venculum if the expression is desired to be written in a vertical manner. venculum will look like an underline. an obelus is the one with a horizontal line with dot over and under it.

There is no name for it. It is just a symbol.
It helps to keep the numerator and denominator separate. So that you know which is the dividend and which is the dividor.
dividor is the denominator. Dividend is the numerator. It is just a convention to draw that L.
