You don't want to restrict your diet too much at this point. But breastfeeding burns up a lot of energy on it's own. Eat healthy and even if you could take a 20 minute walk with the kids that would be at least a little exercise.

If you are sensible about it, yes.
1. Wait until your baby is two months old before dieting
It's best not to do anything consciously to lose weight until after the second month. This gives your body enough time to successfully establish a healthy milk supply that is less likely to be adversely affected if your caloric intake is restricted. Breastfeeding your baby, on average, burns 200-500 calories per day (above what you needed to maintain your pre-pregnancy weight) -- so keep in mind that even without a weight loss program you are burning extra calories.
2. Breastfeed without restriction
Research tells us that both more frequent breastfeeding and breastfeeding longer than six months increases maternal weight loss.
3. Eat at least 1500-1800 calories per day
While nursing, you should not consume less than 1500-1800 calories per day, and most women should stay at the high end of this range. Some mothers will require much more than this, but studies show that going below this number may put supply at risk.
4. Keep weight loss at less than 1.5 pounds per week
Most moms can safely lose up to 1.5 pounds per week or 6 pounds per month after the second month and not affect milk supply or baby's well being. One study has suggested that short-term weight loss of 2.2 pounds (1 kg) per week is not a problem (in this study, moms dieted for 11 days).
5. Decrease the calories gradually
A sudden drop in calories can reduce milk supply. Some moms notice this during an illness, although dehydration and/or medication use could also be a factor in reduced milk supply when mom is sick. It has been hypothesized that a sudden calorie decrease can cause mom's body to go into "starvation mode" and cut nonessential resources such as milk production.
6. Avoid quick-fix solutions
Liquid diets, low-carb diets, fad diets, weight loss medication, etc. are not recommended while breastfeeding.

breast feeding alone cannot help you loose weight....did it with my 3 kids and it didnt work.
contact your doctor and ask the best way to do this. Just remember, no junk food or soda and just eat healthy. You may be able to get your kids to help you exercise and it would be healthy for both you and them. There is an exercise you can use with a baby for mommy baby exercise. Go for long walks with them and the park and get down and play hard with the older one...all exercise.
But just do no only rely on the old "I'm breastfeeding and loosing weight" idea because that is not a reliable way to do it.

Yes but to really get back in shape diet and exercise together is best. They say not to lose more then 2 lb a week while breastfeeding because the toxins stored in fatty tissue will be released into your blood stream and can go into the breast milk. Best of luck.

Breast feeding in itself helps you lose weight. It isn't a good idea to diet when you are breastfeeding because your baby may not get all the nutrients he/she needs if you do. Just try to eat healthy, drinks lots of water, and a little exercise is better then none.

Ask your doctor for diet advise that suits your nutritional & lifestyle needs. Breastfeeding mums should not need to go on a diet if they are not overweight for their BMI. I'll all go away when you do your vigorous daily exercises, get good rest & stop eating unnecessary foods such as high GI foods or over eat any meal. Your not eating for two people. Just eat quality foods rich in calcium, iron... I find for most clients grazing on low gi foods such as apples is the best solution to hunger pains. Take care. Keep up the fluids- i'll all help with quality milk production.

Breastmilk advantages final an entire life examine shows, and in my opinion i think of giving up isn't the final suited factor which you will compliment. that's purely 3-4 months which you ought to nurse that constantly, with tips from six months that's particularly much less, and with tips from 8-365 days no longer plenty in any respect. i think of it is going to teach your 4 year previous good endurance and compassion. that's purely some greater months of the massive time dedication. you could attempt getting a moby wrap or sling that allows you to nurse palms loose. i think of you sense responsible bc deep down you realize it is incorrect. and have you ever relatively thought this by way of? Sanitizing bottles, making and prepping the bottles, giving the bottles, procuring for the formulation, searching for the "precise" formulation.... All of that still takes time... And whilst nursing you're able to do it palms loose and on the floor collectively as fidgeting with the 4 year previous. AND are you relatively gonna get interior the habit now of doing what's precise on your first daughter on the fee of your 2d daughter? i do no longer think of that's honest. basic i think of you're exhausted and wiped out. you purely gave start 4 weeks in the past. the 1st 10 weeks are the toughest. Get your older daughter in some play communities. Recruit some help. truthfully one among your human beings who help breastfeeding will take her off your palms so which you will bond and heal with toddler variety 2. cling in there.... in purely 4-6 greater weeks you would be chuffed you hung in there.
