I've been to Malia (if that's where you mean?) a couple of times but it was a good 10-15 years ago. When you talk about the plumbing I'm assuming it's more toilet plumbing that's the issue? Most Greek toilets cannot cope with toilet paper being flushed down them due to the pipes. OK if you have a maid cleaning your bathroom every day but imagine if you don't... However, things might have changed now. As an 18 year old I LOVED Malia but don't know what it's like now. Try looking at www.tripadvisor.co.uk (or it might be .com) for honest reviews from travellers who have actually been to the place/hotel you are interested in. As well as the travel company or hotels own photos there are sometimes guest candid photos. Good useful website.

Just go.
Only difference in plumbing is that paper is not to be flushed down the toilet, because of small piping. Same goes with many islands like Madeira, Canary Islands etc.

"The plumbing" you are referring to is the toilet waste system.Been to different parts of Greece and everywhere i`ve stayed there have been warning notices in the bathroom not to put paper down the toilet.Apparently the drains cannot cope with this and it causes blockages.Bins are provided in the bathroom.Sounds "iffy",but you`ll get used to it.Enjoy your holiday.
