I wash all my clothes in cold water. Hot water will make your clothes shrink and fade. Plus it saves on electricity/gas bills.

I use cold water for all my clothes. It is a waste to pay to heat the water to wash your clothes when cold water will do the same. Ok, this may sound tedious but I have had many years of washing clothes and when my kids were done people were so jealous because I never had spit up stains on there clothes. For white, if your washer has a prewash cycle, use it. Now because I am prewashing I only use liquid tide, and I fill the cap to the number 2 line. I also add one tide capful of clorax bleach, I have found that the generic or store brands that although they made my whites really white, they also seem to be to harsh on the fabric and I got burn holes in them from the bleach. I also add one scoup of oxy clean and about half a capful of the liquid oxy clean. This had made such a huge difference in my whites. If your whites are yellow or dingy looking try putting a filter on the water line that leads to the washer. You have rust in your water and nothing will prevent it from keeping your whites from becoming grey except the filter. I had this problem before and as soon as I filtered the water, my whites were no longer grey but they were white. The grey color will come out but it will take some time. Be patient. Now for my lights, I use the detergent up to line 2 and powder oxy clean. For darks just the detergent. Watch how much detergent you use, if you use too much you can get itchy, your wasting your money, and your clothes are not clean. For a long time I was using too much detergent and when I realized that I was, all of the itchies that we had disappeared. If you use tide liquid, you only need to fill to the #2 line in the cap. Also make sure that all of your laundry supplies have the same smell and if you can't match it, get unscented in the ones that you can't. For example tide now has tide with downey, if you like the dryer sheets with april fresh, then use the tide with april fresh, or the febreeze scents. If you mix the scents you will smell like cheap perfume and that smell since it is in your clothes does not go away. I like the tide with febreeze citrus scent. It is very light and not overpowering. Also to get your clothes nice and soft use both liquid fabric softener and dryer sheets remember to keep the same scent for each. It really helps keeps your towels really fluffy. Good Luck.

Hot water can actually cause some stains to Set. Cold water is fine, but for best results use warm water and a good quality washing powder.

Hi Max, if you're using a "cold water" detergent, then yes go ahead and wash all your clothes in cold water, but if you're not then the rules to laundry are as follows:
Whites-hot water wash/cold water rinse
lights and brights-cold water wash/cold water rinse
darks-warm water wash/cold water rinse
delicates-warm water wash/cold water rinse, on gentle cycle.
Note-if your whites are real dirty, use also a warm water rinse.
watch for color fastness. "reds bright orange, blacks, dark blue(as in new jeans) will run their colors when they're new, wash separately in cold water.
Hope this helps.

I truly have oily dermis too, only wash face with warm water to open pores. Then wash face with tea tree oil wash right into a lather, this allows avert and sparkling up spots. Then wash face with ice chilly water. less warm the more suitable constructive. Closes up pores and keeps dermis tight and sparkling:D
