to get food stamps u must work 20 hours a week.. There are a few exceptions.. if they have a md's note that says they are not able to work, Is one.. I get $30 a month food stamps.. that is a whole lot and a $644 social security check.. The amount depends on income, how many in household, how much u have in the bank (must be less than $2000 in cash, income, Cd's, etc.) the price of your car... if the book value shows over $2000 u don't qualify..

There are many reasons people need to be on welfare..no way to list them all here but trust me, they don't make as much as people think they do.. I don't know who thinks that a person with 1 kids gets $600 in food stamps.. I had one kid and only made $200 in food stamps..(and I was working and going to school).

Yes they have to prove that they can not work for a specific reason. The people on welfare usually have a doctor's certification of a specific health problem. Some of the claims are legitimate, many are not. Many were at one time, but the system encourages abuse, and people get use to not working and develop a lifestyle which allows no time for actual work. A lot of people conducting illegal activities also collect a welfare check. This is what stigmatizes the system.

All they have to prove is that they make LESS than the maximum required income to be eligible. When applying for DISABILITY they have to prove that they can't work. As for how much is granted, it depends on where the person lives, the size of their family, and their total income.

It depends on their income. You can be on welfare and still have a job. You dont have to be disabled to get help.

Need is the cause. After a while, you have to train, look for work, or have a medical reason not to.
