Tried pest control firms but they all say it'll be around £100, but they'll come back in a couple of months. What I need is either a good way to get rid of them permanently, or a cheap regular thing I can do.

Thanks for the ideas so far. Should add:

It is damp in there because it's dug out of a chalk hill and it's old, but it's well ventilated and quite light.

Powders don't work because they (woodlice) come from the roof, but the bug bomb idea sounds like a goer.

Set off a bug bomb in your garage - repeat as necessary. Go to the garden center and get a good outdoor pesticide that you can broadcast spray around your yard using a hose end sprayer - particularly near your garage. Diazinon is a good one. You can also get diazinon granules that you can put down first.

I use a multi-purpose ant and bug powder and it works a treat. Only costs 99p for tub from Wilko. Any garden centre or large DIY store will sell a similar product.

woodlice like the damp and also the dark - any way you can make conditions drier and lighter? That should help

Identify the cracks they come in from.Boil the kettle then pour the hot water into the cracks.You will then realise that man is king.NOT INSECTS!!!!!

THEY ARE THERE BECAUSE OF DAMP, GET RID OF THE DAMP AREAS AND THEY WILL DISAPPEAR, BY THE WAY AS A FOOTNOTE, THEY TASTE JUST LIKE SHRIMP, TRY EATING ONE, SERIOUSLY, TASTE GREAT.
