No. I know a lot of sucessful people who do not have an MBA and don't plan on getting one. Despite the lack of an MBA, they are doing very well in their companies and have the respect of their colleagues. What you do need is the willingness to learn, leadership skills, being able to analyze a situation and being able to come up with innovative solutions. If you have those, no need for an MBA. If you don't have those skills, an MBA can only show you what they mean and how you can demonstrate them; it can't teach you how to get those skills.
It *is* a good degree if you are changing your field, say from engineering to finance or marketing because it gives you the background of business areas.

MBA's aren't always important. There is a long list of successful people who have made it without even a basic degree. My favourite example is Sir Richard Branson.
But that's for one in a million people kind of person - someone who has the natural business acumen and charisma to pull it off. For people lacking in those departments, an MBA will definitely make it easy for you to at least get your foot in the door.
p.s. I doubt you'd spell like that if you were MBA caliber anyway. Learn your spelling and grammar!

MBA is one of the ways to become a successful person and not the other way around. What I meant is in order to become successful there are n number of ways and yes MBA is a sure bet if you can get it from a good ranking institute like IIMs.
