I agree completly
"... if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American and nothing but an American ... There can be no divided allegiances here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag,... we have room for but one language here, and that is the English language ... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
Teddy Roosevelt -- 1907

I am from Australia. We Just had this PRICK, muslim migrant to our country (who is a religious leader) go on the air over in Egypt and basically insult the crap out of all white Australians. This ars ehole actually had the gall to say that his people (Arabs and other Muslims) had more right to be in this country than white Australians.
If our country was a little less welcomming of these types of scum, our society would be in a lot better place than what it is now. Australian tax payers are helping these dropkicks come into this country and cause trouble and make suburbs unsafe for ordinary citizens. Why?!! Because of civil libetarians and socialists (who know that these people will vote for their political parties) lobbying our politicians to go easy on the trash. TRASH that lie about their refugee status to get a better life in our country. Only then to screw it up for everyone. I am not a racist (or a fascist), I feel that if these people come to our country and actually make an effort to be courteous, polite and decent (and work for a living) then they're fine by me. But the truth is they rarely socialise well with other cultures and sometimes they are arrogant pricks too. They are also the only cultural group to come to this country and commit gang rapes (in one incident calling the girl an Aussie Pig). Because in the past we had a WEAK CORRUPT government who was soft on illegals and other migrants, our country could be headed for a civil war.
So I think you make a very good point.
P.S. If your profile picture is of you, you look very hot.

He was somewhat of an Isolationist, but also remember that is exactly what allowed WWII to become a world war. The German high command desperately wanted to keep America out of the war. Unfortunately for them, they could not keep Hitler and the Imperial Japanese Army in check. If America had stepped in when Hitler was taking smaller countries like Belgium and stopped him then, would we have been called war mongers like we are now while Neville Chamberland was trying to negotiate and assuring the rest of Europe that Hitler promised not to invade France or Poland? And saved maybe a million lives?
As for the illegal immigrants and welfare, I am sure he is spinning in his grave!

actually that is a west african saying, that he borrowed. it was not referring to the world.
"Looking back upon his handling of the incident, Roosevelt thought he 'never saw a bluff carried more resolutely through to the final limit.' And writing to a friend a few days later, he observed: 'I have always been fond of the West African proverb: "Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far." ' "
"There is not a man of us who does not at times need a helping hand to be stretched out to him, and then shame upon him who will not stretch out the helping hand to his brother."
"This country will not be a permanently good place for any of us to live in unless we make it a reasonably good place for all of us to live in."
"There are good men and bad men of all nationalities, creeds and colors; and if this world of ours is ever to become what we hope some day it may become, it must be by the general recognition that the man's heart and soul, the man's worth and actions, determine his standing."
times do change and it is hard to say how a man would act/feel 100 years into the future. i thought some of his other qoutes may help.

He did partake in the Spanish-American war, didn't he?
And that's how we got Guantanamo, Puerto Rico etc
Not much of an isolationist there.
