We are having a horrible time trying to catch the mice in our house. We have one sticky trap and two "snapping" traps set with peanut butter on them and they arent working.

The 'snapping ' trap will work great. Get a Snickers bar, and mash pieces on the trigger. The dumb little mice love the stuff, and will knaw on the trigger to try to get every bit. It doesn't come off, and it WILL trap your mice. It has never failed to work, in any part of the country. Just be sure to mash it up, and mash it into the trigger.

You could have two problems why they aren't working.

1. You are placing too much peanut butter on the trap. If you place too much they will eat just enough and the trap won't go off.

2. Your traps are in the wrong place. They should be placed along the walls where mice travel not in the middle of an area. If in a few days you don't catch anything you should move them to another area.

I just took care of a pretty serious infestation in my parents garage. Regular (snapping) mouse traps work the best and are way more humane than sticky traps in my opinion. I set traps with small slivers of Kraft singles and that worked well. But there is a dog treat available at any pet store or supermarket called Pupperoni. This stuff worked out better than anything I've ever used in a mousetrap. It"s packaged in little peices and you don't even need a whole peice on the trap. It seems they can smell this stuff for miles.

Well you do have a serious problem.....Try setting the traps on a loose spring, maybe the mice is eating the food and the trap is not springing.......They try small pieces of bread and cheeze, make sure you put it inside the trap and not too much on the outside, this is so that the mice will have to go inside the trap to get at the food, and must trigger the spring......
Next buy proven rat posion, of course if you have animals or small children be carefull when setting this down...

I've had luck with pineapple. In the case where the mice eat the bait without triggering the mousetrap, use a carrot (or other hard fruit/veg, well stuck to the trap).

Powdered sugar, hot chocolate mix, pieces of candy bar, anything light, and set that trap with a hair trigger. The other thing that has worked wonders for us is, find where in the heck those suckers are coming from, I spent some time in our crawlspace and FINALLY found a hole that i figured they'd been using 3 years ago, only one mouse since, where it had been 7-10 per year before.

I have never had any luck with regular mouse traps. The best thing that has worked for me are glue traps. You can buy them at Walmart. They are inexpensive, and they do the trick. Put them around you house. Put them under sinks, in pantries, behind refrigerators, etc... But, you have to check them often. If you start to smell something strange, check the traps. Good luck!

Try some Mars bar pieces. You get to enjoy the rest yourself. And make sure there is absolutely nothing else for the mice to eat lying around on the floor.
