According to String theory and M-theory, scientists speculate there should be 11 dimensions. Multiverse, if u will. Ofcourse its still a theory debated by many scientists. But I am a big fan of String theory because It provokes so many interesting ideas.
By using kappa symmetry, some scientists derived(theoritically that is) that gravity is weak because its spread across 11 dimensions. The derived number 11 is the result of complicated math in superString Theory. The formulas and the theoritical support make sense only when there is 11 dimensions. So string theory scientists think there should be 11 dimensions. This was includes concepts of multiverse, parallel universes and so on.
Whether the theory will prove to be true or false only time will tell since testing the practicality of these theories in itself is a big hurdle. Whatever the truth is, this does spark some interesting thought process. Hope this thought process will lead us to understanding the cosmos better.

According to M-Theory, they do, and the "extra" universes explain how the forces of our own universe (gravity, electromagnetism and the strong and weak nuclear forces) work in unison. Parallel universes in M-Theory also eliminate the problem of the "singularity," the point in space-time BEFORE the big bang, by premising that the big bang was caused by a collision between two parallel universes or "membranes." For instance, there could be a parallel universe where you didn't ask this question, and I didn't answer it.

its a theory. part of the string theory actually. look into string theory if you are truly interested. I cant undersand must of it, its a cutting ege theory that sugjests an infinate number of paralel universes. VERY INTERESTING, but as of now no one truly knows
