I'm looking for something with some humor and maybe historical, but I'm not a big fan of fiction. I like to learn new facts or perspectives when I read.

"Banker To The Poor" by Mohammad Yunus.

It's a FANTASTIC read, with fresh perspectives on traditional capitalism.

Highly recommended! :)

Why not try some Terry Pratchett? It's fiction, but his sort of 'theme' is taking old world myths (from everywhere) and satirizing them, so I actually feel that I learn a lot of new things when I read them. They aren't 'historical' by any means, and definitely not factual, but they have that sort of feeling. Of course, they're fantasy, or at least fantastical, so you're going to have mythical creatures, but it's sort of secondary to the satire of fantasy.

Moreover, they're just really good stories. They're hilarious (seriously- you'll get a laugh on every other page, practically), with well-drawn, memorable characters. I love them.

If you want, start with something like "Wyrd Sisters" or the very funny "The Wee Free Men".

Whatever you choose, happy reading!

This book isn't funny, but it was one of the best books I read last year. Its called "The End of Oil" and its this examination of our dependence on oil, from an historical perspective, and looking into the future of alternative fuels. Its a great book if you are interested in things like that, and so topical!

I'm the same way. I got "New Rules: Polite Musings from a Timid Observer" by Bill Maher. It's the type of book that insults eveeeeryone, democrats and republicans. Plus it is in little tidbits, not whole huge chapters so you can read it pretty fast and it covers a great deal of issues that may spark further reading. Highly recommended!
