Simple answer: The distances involved.
Even if faster than light travel were possible, it would still take tremendous amounts of time to travel to distant stars. Add to that the obvious uncertainty that live exists at those systems, and you can see why no ET's have dropped by to visit.

yea your right with the size and age of the universe there almost HAS to be other life... but due to the distance between these life sustaining places... and the fact that there is a universal spped limit is the speed of light makes travel difficult. ALSO the human race will probally be around for another million or so year before we run out of resourse or nuke ourslves. 2 million years compared to the billions of years old the universe is... a civilation far away might still be caveman....
the main factors are time and distance...
and how come we arent finding other people ourselves?

We have been visited! It happens every day! It happened with more frequency further back in history but now they are becoming disgusted with the increasingly worsening state of our earth so they don't return as often. The common belief that we are alone as intelligent life is the same mentality that leads to wars and human injustice. It is a very egocentric way of viewing a vast universe, the enormity of which we cannot comprehend.
An no, I haven't been abducted by "them" and probed on a cold steel table in the belly of the mothership. This is just my take on all of the very compelling evidence at hand.

any galaxies where there might be planets that sustain intelligent life are Billions of miles away at least...so, it would take 100's of years to travel between planets, even if they could traval warp speed light Star Wars (no idea how fast Star trek warp speed 10 or hyper drive are), unless those aliens lived to be 1000 years old, they would spend 1/2 their life coming here, and 1/2 their life retuerning to their planet. Not very likely.

Well the reason we haven't found any is because the Hubble Telescope isn't powerful enough to see past our solar system. Now if there is other life on other planets it could be that they are primitive just as we were at the beginning of time or it could be that they are more advanced than us and consider us too primitive to bother making contact with.

This question was most famously asked about 50 years ago by the famous physicist Enrico Fermi. He showed that with very modest assumptions about interstellar travel speeds and how long it takes to build a starship, any reasonable civilization existing much before our own should have already overrun the galaxy.

for one the universe isnt infinite, and for the other life is incredibly rare, think about how many conditions have to come together for life to be successful and also if there is life on other planets what makes you think they would be more advanced than us and can actually fly around the place

Tell me, would you go to earth for a holiday?
From out there it must look like one big war zone. People that arnt being shot at are starving or dying of some infection.
I wouldnt come here. Someone might scratch my flying saucer.

It is very possible that there is intelligent life somewhere besides earth, but it might be so far away that earthlings will ever see them.
