Well, first place you'll want to look is http://www.witchvox.com/vn/hm/usmi.html which is the Michigan page at Witchvox. See what's within a reasonable area, both as far as shops and other people who might have ideas.

Failing that, you can get candles at all sorts of stores, from your local Hell-mart (which I personally wouldn't recommend, but that's my own bias showing) to gift shops. Any candle will work--it doesn't have to be anything uber-special. Also, if there aren't any pagan stores, you might still look for a health food store which often has the same stuff--not a chain store like GNC that just sells pills, but a place (usually small business) that specializes in loose herbs, incense, etc. Their books and such may very well be on the New Agey side, but they still have a lotof the same supplies. I grew up in a town of 15,000 people in rural Missouri, and I ended up getting a lot of my early supplies at a little health food store near my home.

Failing that, there's always the internet. http://www.azuregreen.com is a great starting place, but you can also just type "pagan shop" or "pagan supplies" into any search engine and get a plethora of independently-owned businesses with all sorts of good stuff for sale.
