Someone wrote beneficial. Hmmmm Tired of releveling and they tore up the veggie garden, upheaved walk ways and stone work. Yes, grub control is the key. Am winning the battle with the moles slowly but surely. I spread fertilizer mixed with sulphur dust & grub killer 3 times a year right before a rain. Mounding/dirt out crops I uncover carefully looking for tunnel openings. When I find one I stick in a Motomco Brand worm shaped bait poison and gently recover. Then check again to see if disturbed. Recommended at local farm supply and they can barely keep it on the shelves. Only have one small area left to conquer. Traps, smoking out / flooding their tunnels - did nothing. The bait and the fertilizer mix are the ticket.

Moles eat grubs. So, you need to use a chemical that kills grubs. Grubs can only be killed at certain times of the year effectively, when they are at their smallest which is right after the beetles lay their eggs in your lawn. Usually around June and July in CT. Grub X is sold all year long but, will only work when the grubs are small. Talk with a professional landscaper. They can get you the good stuff that only professionals are allowed to buy.

There are a number of ways!
1) put traps in their current tunnels
2) take the music piece out of a musical birthday card and put that down the tunnel- they hate the noise.
3) Put a smoke bomb down the tunnel.
depends how humaine you want to be!!

Throw a smoke bomb down the hole and wait with a bb gun to see any movement. It always helps to have at least a pint of Jack Daniels handy when applying this technique.
